General Information: One of the rare Daum cars,
the Aston Martin DB5 was designed in the larger 1:12 scale, and
produced only in a limited edition of 250 pieces. As one of the later
Daum cars
produced, the DB5 was shipped in Daum's shoebox style box. It came
with a certificate of Authenticity that was also numbered to match
the car. This car was also designed by Xavier Froissart. I have
now verified the actual edition size of the Aston Martin DB5, with
some
help from people in high places! Only 84 Aston Martin DB5's were
actually produced and sold by Daum.
I am very pleased to have S/N 1/250 in my collection. This car is
not only signed "Daum France", but also signed by the
designer as "X. Froissart", and is further annotated as
the first Artist's Example by the designation "1 EA".
I have added additional pictures below showing Xavier Froissart's
signature and the EA designation. For further information about
EA cars, see my Daum
Automobiles page. I have also included the original invoice,
and Cert of Authenticity for S/N 11/250 that I owned previously.
Update: One non-serialized DB5 has been found. It is signed Daum
France, just not etched with a serial number. It is not known if
any other unserialized DB5's exist. If you have one (or an unserialized
MKII) please let me know. |
