General Information: The 4th of Daum's
Relief series, the Monza was designed by Xavier Froissart in 1988,
as an Italian Touring Coupe of the 1960's. I actually have 3 Monza's
in my collection. One car is standard production, signed Daum France.
Another car is not signed "Daum
France", and has some internal bubbles, so may be a factory
reject sold to employees. It does have an stamped mark on it
that seems to say
"Nancy",
which was generally used to indicated Factory Seconds.
I also have a third Monza that is etched with a number
"1" rather than the number "2" which is standard.
It also has 2 etched stripes along the top of the car rather than
the normal one. Unfortunately this car is not signed or stamped,
so there is no information as to how official this variation is.
Since it is not signed, I am considering it to be a variation of
the normal Monza, rather than seperate collectible car in its own
right. If anyone has any further information about the number "1"
Monza, please let me know. See below for photos unique to the "1"
car.
I have now verified the actual edition size of the Monza, with
some help from people in high places! A total of 1480 Monzas were
actually produced and sold by Daum. |
